Weekend 3/6-3/8

First of all, thanks to everyone for the congratulations about my acceptance! I really appreciate the support and have my fingers crossed for the other program I applied to, too :)

This weekend was insanity. Not so much in what I did, but definitely in what I ate. If this blog is meant to be about health and wellness, this weekend was the antithesis. Oh, well. It was fun, though!

Friday night:

For traveling, I packed some carrots and a Kashi Pumpkin Pie bar.

I got stuck in traffic and was delayed an extra hour, so I'm so glad I brought these.

Since I had something to celebrate, Gustl and I decided to go to Carraba's for dinner. I think this has become our standard celebration place when I'm in Ocean City. Plus I wanted CARBS like CRAZY.

Started off with the best bread ever (and oil):

Caesar salad:

1/2 bowl of Tagliarini Picciu Paccau (sp?) (pasta, tomatoes, garlic, basil, olive oil, and chicken):

Of course celebrations also call for sweets! We headed to Denny's and split a Cinnamon Apple Crisp:

Saturday:

Breakfast was Kashi GoLean Crunch w/ skim milk:

And a side of cinnamon raisin bread with Smart Balance:

After that, we went for a 5 mile walk/run on the boardwalk. The weather was sooo nice and I am not a runner, but I tried! I'm going to get better!!!

Of course we were ravenous after that, which called for Carraba's leftovers:

A Kashi Oatmeal Flax Raisin cookie:

And 1/2 a cantaloupe:

We went to a friend's birthday party, so I wanted to make cookies for a gift. While baking, my Momma put out some snacks for everyone:

I definitely ate quite a few of these Magic Peanut Butter Surprise cookies:

Before the party we ate at Captain's Galley. Seriously, the BEST crabcakes on earth. The Best. We started with steamed shrimp:

There's my beautiful, lovely crabcake (ate about 1/2 chips, 1/2 slaw):

We also had a slice of Lemon Lust pie by Dessert's by Rita, also one of my favorite things in the world, which is prob why I was too excited and forgot to take a photo. The party also contained a vodka and diet coke and too many baked goods. Seriously WAY too many. And of course I left my camera in the car, so I didn't capture any of this... Note to self: the camera helps you to NOT eat 10 desserts...

Sunday:

When I go out at night, I typically want Denny's the next day. It's become engrained in me and I don't fight it. So brunch was a Grand Slam:

Luckily that kept me full all day. On the ride back up to CP, I grabbed a Kashi GoLean Bar and a cup of fruit:

Dinner was a quick microwaving of Kashi Lemongrass Coconut Chicken. Good, but still a frozen dinner:

Plus, I've gotten yoga in every day! We'll see about tonight, though...
Oh my goodness, I am glad that I updated. Sorry it's so succinct, but I need to prep for the week. 2 exams and a major project this week. Yikes! Have a good night and a happy Monday!!

Push it!

Soooo, no work for me tonight :) My friend Jake called me and we went out with our friend Brian to see Push. We were all expecting it to be TERRIBLE, and kind of just wanted to go see a ridiculously bad movie for the fun of it (does that make sense?), but it was actually pretty good. I would recommend it for anyone who likes a movie with twists. And Dakota Fanning is adorable.

I had dinner before I left. I decided to make a taco bowl type concoction.

This consisted of lean ground turkey, taco seasoning, with some cheddar, salsa, and avocado on top. This was all on top of some Kashi rice. Mmmm.

I also had a small spinach salad with mushrooms, cukes, and balsamic red wine vinegarette.

When I got home from the movies, I was pretty hungry. I knew that the absence of a filling lunch was going to catch up with me. I had a slice of my zucchini coconut loaf and a mug of the new cocoa I got.

The cocoa is Equal Exchange. Honestly, at first sip I was not blown away. But I think that it grew on me. It is not very sweet, which is actually kind of nice. And it can't be that bad since I finished all of it :) Plus, it's fair trade, so that is definitely a plus.

Time for me to wind myself down. I still want to get up at decent hour and get some things done before I head for the Eastern Shore tomorrow. Good night!

Too snacky.

I always have the problem of getting too snacky when I'm around friends. So basically, being at HC with friends + being in a bad mood = snacking disaster. Probably not a "disaster" per se, but I'm not too happy about it. Oh well, all we can do is pick back up tomorrow.

At HC, I also had an apple with almond butter (not pictured). Also I had a cup of my cocoa at home (also not pictured).

For dinner I decided to make pan-glazed tofu a la Bella eats. Seriously, the best tofu that I've ever had. I will DEFINITELY make it again.

Served it with Kashi 7 grain rice and mushrooms.

And my chocolate for the night: dark chocolate with raspberry creme.

Alright, I'm wrapping it up for the night. Don't let the bed bugs bite ;)

Oh Kashi, how I love thee.

The Diamondback has been running a lot of nice stories about body image. I'm guessing that the campus is doing a lot for ED awareness month. This one was really nice, too. Good to see some destigmatization.

Yoga came at the perfect time today. I was starting to drag! Unfortunately, we only got to do 20 minutes because we have to do a group project (it's a credit class). Kinda cool though: we each got a card with a pose and we have to develop a 7-8 minute flow using all of them. Much better than an exam :)

I messed up in the sustenance department today. After yoga I was super hungry. I ate a Kashi Dark Chocolate Coconut bar.

WOW. This is not a normal granola or cereal bar. The chocolate on this thing is soft and thick and chewy. It's like a candy bar, but better.

I also made a smoothie with frozen mango, raspberries, and blueberries with skim. Refreshing.

Dinner was salmon! I just seasoned it with s+p, garlic, and lime juice, then sliced the lime on top and baked in a foil packet. 450 degrees for 20 min. Yummy! Also had the other half of my yellow sweet potato with Smart Balance and cinnamon.

About to have my evening cocoa ;) I'm also planning on baking tonight, so I'm all ready for a busy night!

Zapped.

Did not sleep well last night. I still woke up before my alarm though. Go figure. I have a long day, so hopefully I can trudge through it and get home before I pass out.

Breakfast was the wonderful Kashi Vive with skim and an apple. And coffee of course. I think one of my roommates ate my apples by mistake. I guess that's what happened when 4 people have separate food in the same fridge.

To get me through the day I have another peanut butter and strawberry sandwich (it's like jelly, but 100x better!), baby carrots and a mix of Kashi Heart to Heart (Kashi overload today) and TJ's Berry Medley.

I have 0 energy. I hope I can snap out of it.

Long, slow day.

Sometimes I don't think about the time frames that I actually have for things... Like the fact that I am going to be hanging out on the Salisbury University campus allll day today, will have plenty of time to blog (and do anything else) if I want to, and that yesterday was Thursday, not Friday. I'll blame it on still getting adjusted to my new semester.

I got into my yoga class! I am really excited, and it turns out that it meets 2 days a week. This is good because only 1 day would be kind of lacking, but not so good because I am a counselor at the Help Center during the Tuesday time and I'm going to have to change my shift. Hopefully people are understanding. It's difficult to purely do things for yourself sometimes, but yoga is part of the wellness approach that I want to be taking in my life.

Last night I had a Shorti (6") sub from Wawa en route to Gustl's house. It was Honey Smoked Turkey with veggies and mustard. I had a Cadbury Creme Egg for dessert. Didn't take pictures, though, sorry :(

This morning had a bowl of Kashi GoLean Crunch with 1% milk and a banana (pictures to be uploaded after the weekend). I am drinking a coffee now.

This weekend should be pretty exciting. I think we're going to Carraba's tonight for dinner (YUM), and I want to figure out something somewhat healthy to eat. We're also going out for a friend's birthday on Saturday. Hope it's a more temperate weekend than it has been!

Perfect Soup Day

I am exhausted and freezing! It was so cold today, I thought that my ears were going to break off. Luckily, all of my classes were in the same building, so it wasn't horrible. Had my regular workout (20 min on eliptical, 20 min on treadmill) and then went to yoga. Yoga killed me! I haven't been in so long, I thought that my arms were going to fall off! It feels sooo good though. And I think that I am actually going to be let into the class (I'm on the waitlist now).

Having a cup of Chicken Tortilla Soup with Kashi crackers for a snack. I was ready to eat as soon as I walked in the door! Heading home for the weekend, so probably no posts until after.

Caffeinated.

Yesterday I had a latte around 3pm and it kept me wired well past my usual bedtime. My sleep schedule is important to me, so I was kinda bummed. On that note, I bought coffee at the store yesterday, so I might be switching back from decaf in the mornings.

I have class today, so I'll be out for a while. For breakfast, I had Kashi Vive cereal with skim milk (good, but not as amazing as some reviews I've read), coffee, and an apple. Lunch will be a peanut butter and strawberry sandwich on Double Fiber Bread with carrots for a snack. Here's to a good day!
